The structural difference. NovelAI trains and serves its own image models. Its house style comes from models it controls, and nothing on this list reproduces that exactly. If the specific look is what you are buying, expect an adjustment rather than a swap.

Built for story and chapter structure rather than chat that runs long, and the strongest documentation in this directory on what happens to your writing: training is off by default, opt-in only, and the vendor states plainly that withdrawing consent cannot un-train a model that has already learned.

Prose quality is the hardest thing to judge from a pricing page, and this removes the guesswork entirely before any payment relationship exists. It also applies a strict under-18 rule with no exception for fictional or drawn work.

The arithmetic worth doing
NovelAI starts at 10 dollars for both halves. If you use only the writing, SmutFinder credits at 4.99 or DreamGen at 7.83 cost less. If you use only the images, HackAIGC’s free tier lets you test before committing to anything.
If you genuinely use both halves heavily, one bundle may still be the cheaper answer, and this page has talked you out of nothing. That is worth saying: the point of splitting the question is to find out which case you are in, not to move you off a tool that fits.
